Description

Myofascial facial massage is an effective manual technique that focuses on the facial muscles and fascia (connective tissue). The treatment helps reduce muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and support the skinโ€™s natural tone and elasticity.

At Profysio, we offer myofascial facial massage in Tartu, performed by an experienced therapist. The treatment combines relaxation with visible aesthetic results, supporting both overall well-being and the natural freshness of the face.

The duration of the facial massage is 60 minutes, so when booking online, please select a 60-minute time slot or 2 ร— 30-minute facial massage sessions.

If you cannot find a suitable time, feel free to contact our administrator at +372 5676 2466 โ€” we will find a suitable solution together.

What is myofascial facial massage?

Facial tissues are not made up of skin alone โ€” beneath it lie muscles and fascia (connective tissue), forming an interconnected layered system. In an optimal state, these layers move freely in relation to each other.

However, daily tension, stress, and repetitive facial expressions can reduce this mobility โ€” the layers may start to feel โ€œstuckโ€ together. This limits tissue movement, slows blood circulation and lymphatic flow, and can give the face a more rigid or tired appearance.

Myofascial massage helps restore the natural glide between these layers by releasing tension and improving tissue mobility. When the muscles and fascia can move freely again, the skinโ€™s supply of oxygen and nutrients improves, supporting its natural tone and elasticity.

How does the treatment work?

The treatment is performed using manual techniques, working on both superficial and deeper layers of tissue. The neck and shoulder area are also included to achieve full relaxation and better overall results.

Important to know:

The massage is performed on dry skin (without oils or lotions), which gives it a mild exfoliating effect โ€” removing dead skin cells and stimulating skin renewal.

After the procedure, it is recommended to moisturize the skin, for example, by using a nourishing mask or hydrating cream.

Benefits of the massage

  • improves blood and lymph circulation
  • supports natural tissue mobility

Who is it suitable for?

  • puffiness and a โ€œtiredโ€ facial appearance

Contraindications

Myofascial facial massage is not recommended or should be postponed in the following cases:

  • acute inflammation or infection in the facial area
  • skin conditions (e.g. active acne, dermatitis, herpes)
  • rosacea in an active or flare-up phase
  • open wounds or recent skin damage
  • recent aesthetic procedures (e.g. fillers, Botox, chemical peels)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Is myofascial facial massage painful?

The massage may feel more intense in tense areas, but it should not be too painful. The intensity is always adjusted to the client.

  2. How quickly are results visible?

Many people notice changes after the first session โ€” the face feels more relaxed and looks fresher. For longer-lasting results, regular sessions are recommended.

  3. How often should I get a massage?

Ideally, once a week or every other week as a course, then maintenance sessions 1โ€“2 times per month.

  4. Can the skin be sensitive after the massage?

Yes, as the massage has a mild exfoliating effect, the skin may be temporarily more sensitive. It is recommended to moisturize the skin after the treatment.

  5. Does it help with wrinkles?

The massage helps reduce muscle tension and improve skin condition, which makes facial expressions appear softer and more refreshed.
